CFEE has come up with a new resource that I know the teachers will find very helpful for their students. https://finlit101.ca/en. The site has valuable information and videos for teachers and students.It can be used for all high school students​ and is available in French and English.

 

Bank of Canada Museum.  
School programs and Lessons Plans galore!  Browse and access sections on inflation, money, bank notes, trading rules and other fun activities for students at a variety of ages.  Go to site 

AMF (Autorité des marchés financiers)
Buying a house? Planning for retirement? Every stage of life comes with its share of new financial questions for you to consider. To help you make sense of it all, the AMF offers tools on a wide range of subjects, including insurance, investing and financial fraud. 

Money and Youth (CFEE)
This resource is produced by the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education. There is a free ebook for students on a variety of financial topics as well as a Teacher guide with lesson plans to support the use of the ebook.

Practical Money Skills
Practical Money Skills is a free financial literacy program to help Canadians understand the fundamentals of money management. Created by Visa, the program offers money management resources including calculators, games, and lesson plans tailored for use by Canadian families and educators.

Making Good Choices
Making Good Choices Financial Literacy Series is a resource funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education. There are booklets on various financial topics that are written for English Language Learners who are emerging readers.

Next Gen Personal Finance
Next Gen Personal Finance is a non-profit American organization that aims to connect educators with free resources and equip students with the knowledge and skills to lead financially successful and fulfilling lives. There are a variety of units on various financial topics – each with links to lesson plans, videos and supporting activities.

The City – the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada
The City is a learning program developed by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada. It teaches young people skills that they can carry throughout their lives. You must register to create a free teacher account or student accounts.

Your Financial Toolkit – The Government of Canada
Comprehensive learning modules that provides basic information and tools to learn about personal finances.

Choices and Decisions - VISA
This program is designed to teach young people how to set long and short-term personal and financial goals; create and work with a personal budget; identify how and when to use credit; save and invest, understand the basics of banking services and develop character and confidence. The materials can easily be adapted for use in a wide variety of instructional settings including high schools.

"Consumption refers to the way a person or a community uses a good or service... and consuming goods involves choices!"  These resources will help you and your students consider economic factors and social factors that affect decision-making in our society.

The teacher leads a discussion with the class on goods and services consumption. In small groups, students analyze their most recent purchases.

Students learn more about and reflect on various consumer topics of interest to young people through research on credible websites, then present the information they find to other students.

Students are informed about consumer rights and responsibilities as well as how to negotiate with merchants. They learn how to draft a formal notice (also referred to as a formal demand or a demand letter) based on a scenario.

Financial Issue: Entering the workforce

"Entry into the workforce is a transitional period when a number of factors with a financial impact come into play, thereby creating a financial issue."  Students consider trades and professions, salaries they might make, working during school, etc.  To take a position on the financial issue of Entering the workforce students will assessthe situation, examine options and choose one over the other.  They will also learn about the rights and responsibilities of workers.
