    We invite students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 across Canada to record and virtually post 1-3 minute videos, en français, sharing how they are spending their time while schools are closed and events are cancelled.

    A French poetry contest for students learning French as a second language aged 5 to 17 years old.The 4th edition begins April 1st and deadline to submit entries is June 1st 2020.

  • La puce à l’oreille - La puce à l'oreille's mission is the creation, production, broadcasting and curation of French-language narrative audio content for children (podcasts, interactive audio, audioguides, etc.). It works for its own account as well as for institutions, artistic or scientific organizations and companies. In addition, it offers tools and training for young audiences and their teachers, in Quebec and elsewhere in the French-speaking world.   • BAnQ (Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec) - Subscribing lets you access every digital resource offered, and borrow e-books. To borrow materials at the Grande Bibliothèque, you need a library card that you can obtain by joining BAnQ and subscribing to all its services - Go to site 
  • Bibliothèque des Amériques - Thousands of French-language books digital to discover. You can register for free to have access to a wide variety of books written in French by francophone authors coming from everywhere in the continent - Go to site 

VIDEOS/TV SHOWS
A simple way to support language learning is to watch videos or television programs in French. TIP: You can add the English or French subtitles to make it easier to understand.

  • Tou.tv - A great online selection of television in French. Go to site  
  • Curio - A subscription-based educational streaming platform targeting educational institutions from primary through to post-secondary levels across Canada. You can now access thousands of programs, documentaries, audio content and archival material from CBC/Radio-Canada on a provisional basis. Go to site 
  • ONF (Office national du film du Canada) - Educational selections presenting collections of films organized around unifying themes that echo Canadian curricula. They put our productions into perspective and combine them with current issues. Several of them are also linked to educational guides. Go to site

Who doesn't like to play? Here are some fun games in French to help your child to consolidate his or her second-language learning.

  • Astronautes FLS - Astronautes FLS (French as a second language) is a crazy and fun game to learn French. You can play it with your friends and classmates using smart phones or tablets. Your team of two (2) to four (4) players is at the controls of a spaceship. To survive, you must follow the instructions and press the correct buttons on your control panel on your phone (or tablet). But there is a problem with your spaceship - your instructions are sent to your friends' phones, and instructions for your friends are sent to your phone! Therefore, if you want to survive, you will need to communicate and collaborate! Go to site 
  • Busuu - A language learning tool for web and mobile which students can use anytime and anywhere. More than 1,000 lessons created by professional linguists with the help of Artificial Intelligence, including personalized study plans and a speech recognition tool. Go to site 
  • Conjugo (Allo Prof) - No more long tables and the linear method to learn how to conjugate verbs! With Conjugo, primary and secondary school students revise their verbs in a totally interactive and fun way. The player must make his ninja jump from obstacle to obstacle and answer correctly to conjugation questions to continue his course. Go to site 
  • Duolingo - This free online application allows students to learn how to read and write in French. Go to site 
  • EduLulu- Aimed at parents and educators, EduLulu is the first Canadian public service that offers evaluation of educational applications available on tablets and smartphones in Canada. EduLulu's assessments are completed by teams of independent experts, composed of educators, parents, ergonomists and designers.  Go to site 
  • Magimot (Allo Prof) - This fun game allows, as often as desired, to practice words of one's choice. By creating a free account and logging in, progress is recorded. The player can thus obtain more and more magical tools to fight his enemies. Obviously, the more he recognizes the spelling of words, the better his result. Go to site 
  • PP L'Archer (Allo Prof) - A game to review the past participle. This interactive game consists of giving PP a helping hand so that he clicks his arrow on the right target, i.e. on the correct agreement answer of the past participle contained in the displayed sentence. Go to site
