TO COMPLETE AN ACTIVITY OR PROJECT

The video clips in this section bring the evaluation criteria to life by showing examples of behaviours that meet them. Each evaluation criterion is intimately connected to the elements of a key feature of the competency.

In order to encourage the children to develop these behaviours, we need to provide ample opportunity for them to experience and practice them all.  

 

Evaluation criteria

1- Involvement in the activity or project 

2- Use of his/her resources in carrying out the activity or project 

3- Perseverance in carrying out the activity or project

4- Description of the strategies used in carrying out the activity or project

5- Assessment of the learnings acquired and difficulties encountered

6- Expression of satisfaction with the activity or project

Evaluation criterion 2: use of his/her resources in carrying out the activity or project

In order to encourage the children to becomes involved in the project or activity, drawing on their resources,

I need to provide ample opportunity for them to

- show interest. (not shown here)

- speak of what he/she knows and research information in order to carry out the activity or project.

In this video, an English Language Learner presents his fire truck during Show & Tell while referring to the notes he prepared in his planner.

Evaluation criterion 4: Description of strategies used in carrying out the activity or project

In order to encourage the children to describe strategies used in carrying out the activity or project, I need to provide ample opportunity for them to

- to show satisfaction with the project or activity.

- to present his/her project.

- to describe his/her method.

- to explain the strategies and resources used.

 

 

A child who is describing the strategies used in carrying out the activity or project can be observed:

- presenting his/her project.

- describing his/her methods.

- explaining the strategies and resources used.

In these videos, an English Language Learner presents his project, describes how he made a pirate flag while referring to the planner that he and his team mates created and a child describes how she created a paper snowman while referring to the graphic organise she used.

The teachers help the children bring out the various aspects with their questions.
